The market-leading golf technology brand has mapped out the new layout in every detail, so golfers with access to a Foresight Sports simulator and FSX simulation software can practice or compete on the same iconic course as the professionals from the comfort of their own home or golf club.
As part of extensive changes to the course since last year’s tournament, a total of 29 bunkers have been removed and eight greens either totally or partially rebuilt. Golfers have switched on to the idea of a free GPS app from leading trolley brand Motocaddy, with more than 13,000 downloads being made in April alone.
The Motocaddy GPS App was launched earlier this year in order to capitalise on the first Major of the season with interest in the game at its peak.
Featuring a number of easy-to-use modes, the brand’s first-ever mobile phone app can be used as a stand-alone, fully-featured mobile GPS device. Former Kent Ladies Champion of Champions Sophie Daws has joined the professional team at Royal Mid-Surrey to boost the Club’s teaching Academy for beginners and provide lessons for members of its thriving ladies and junior sections.
Sophie, a qualified Level 2 coach with a Foundation Degree in Professional Golf Studies from Birmingham University, now forms part of Head Professional Matthew Paget’s team of seven PGA Professional at the club.
She joins the Richmond-based club from Etchinghill Golf Club in Folkstone, where she spent five years growing the Junior passport scheme from scratch to more than 30 regular participants and helping to keep girls involved in the game. (more…)
Golfers have been turning to coloured golf balls in droves since Bubba Watson began playing on the PGA Tour with a Pink S4 ball from Volvik, brand leader in multi-coloured performance golf balls.
Golf shops across the UK report spontaneous pre-game trial purchases of single red, orange, green as well as pink Volvik VIVID balls, which often result in follow up sales of the 3-piece matte coloured balls by the dozen.
“It’s been the quickest-selling golf ball I’ve ever had in my Pro Shop,” said Jon Newham, at Mapperley Golf Club in Nottingham. “The Volvik stand sits on my counter with a plastic tub next to it full of 2-3 dozen different coloured balls. Ninety-nine percent of my box sales come from customers who started out buying a single ball for £3.50. I first ordered 12 dozen and sold them all in two weeks, so I’ve ordered more and added an extra colour – blue – which lots of people have asked for. (more…)
