Motocaddy, the top-selling trolley brand, has unveiled its most technologically advanced model, along with a free GPS app that connects to the trolley providing distance data and mobile alerts at over 36,000 courses around the world.

The S5 CONNECT trolley can be synced to the Motocaddy GPS App via a Bluetooth® connection on any compatible smartphone; allowing the trolley’s digital display to be used in place of a conventional GPS, offering golfers front, middle and back distances to the green (in yards or metres), along with the par of the hole, clock and round timer. The digital control button works in the same way as other Motocaddy models, regulating the nine speed settings and stopping and starting as required around the course.

The new trolley can also receive and display notifications alerting the golfer to missed calls, text messages, emails or range of app alerts, including WhatsApp and Facebook. The redesigned Wentworth Club West Course, host to last week’s BMW PGA Championship, is now accessible to golfers in all its Tour event glory thanks to Foresight Sports’ latest FSX simulator software.

Golfers have switched on to the idea of a free GPS app from leading trolley brand Motocaddy, with more than 13,000 downloads being made in April alone.

The Motocaddy GPS App was launched earlier this year in order to capitalise on the first Major of the season with interest in the game at its peak.

Featuring a number of easy-to-use modes, the brand’s first-ever mobile phone app can be used as a stand-alone, fully-featured mobile GPS device. Or, it can be synced with the world’s first GPS electric trolley – Motocaddy’s S5 CONNECT – launched this summer with smartphone notifications and a USB charging point. (more…)

Former Kent Ladies Champion of Champions Sophie Daws has joined the professional team at Royal Mid-Surrey to boost the Club’s teaching Academy for beginners and provide lessons for members of its thriving ladies and junior sections.

Sophie, a qualified Level 2 coach with a Foundation Degree in Professional Golf Studies from Birmingham University, now forms part of Head Professional Matthew Paget’s team of seven PGA Professional at the club.

She joins the Richmond-based club from Etchinghill Golf Club in Folkstone, where she spent five years growing the Junior passport scheme from scratch to more than 30 regular participants and helping to keep girls involved in the game. (more…)
