A third of the men’s golf shirts sold for £70 or more during the first half of this year were from the Galvin Green Ventil8™ cool layer range, according to UK industry retail figures.*

High-performance Galvin Green garments accounted for 33.1% of the golf shirts purchased in this premium category.

The most popular model in the current Galvin Green range is the MACOY short sleeve shirt, with a RRP of £95. Like every shirt in the exclusive Ventil8™ line, the MACOY (pictured) has an extremely high level of breathability, as the 100% polyester fabric transports moisture away from the body quickly to keep the golfer cool and dry.  (more…)

Two Wilson Staff players had reason to celebrate last weekend as England’s Anthony Wall defeated current Scottish Open champion Alex Noren 1 Up in the final of the Paul Lawrie Match Play event at Archerfield Links in Scotland.

It was 41-year-old Anthony’s second Tour victory and came 431 events after his first in South Africa in 2000. The gap between the two wins sets a European Tour record and surpasses the previous high of 278 events held by the late Ryder Cup legend Christy O’Connor Jnr.

It was also the second time that former Open champion Paul Lawrie has hosted his Match Play tournament sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management, which is now an established and popular event on the European Tour calendar.

Both players use Wilson Staff FG Tour irons and PMP wedges and Wall gave a masterclass in accurate iron play to defeat the Swedish favourite in the final round, as 16mph gusts of wind made it difficult to control the ball from the fairways and on the greens.

Anthony, who has been a Wilson Staff player for most of his professional career, was almost speechless at the close.  “It just feels amazing and I cannot tell you how happy I am,” he said. “I felt calm all week and just found something with my putting which obviously made a massive difference.”

During his route to the title, Anthony had overcome South African Haydn Porteous when he chipped in for an eagle, and compatriot Oliver Fisher, who he defeated at the fourth extra hole.

Commenting on the victory, Doug Wright, Global Commercial Director of Wilson Golf, said: “This is the result of Anthony being confident in his golf equipment and gaining the rewards from a lot of dedication over the years.

“There’s a great deal of talent coming through on the European Tour, but he has never given up the chase for another title. Everyone at Wilson Golf is delighted for him and his family and hope he won’t have to wait so long for his next victory!”

Motocaddy, the brand leader in powered golf trolleys, has introduced an advanced version of its hugely popular S1 model featuring downhill speed control and the UK’s first electronic parking brake.

The new S1 DHC electric trolley incorporates the same features as the latest 2016 S1 model, but can maintain a constant speed while moving down a gradient – thanks to a special single motor that offers downhill braking coupled with an electronic parking brake.

The motor automatically adjusts its power output to control the rate of descent without the golfer having to make any adjustment to the pre-hill speed setting, while the exclusive parking brake will hold its position even on the steepest of slopes thanks to a proven solenoid braking system.

As well as the obvious advantage of greater control on undulating golf courses, the latest Motocaddy S-Series trolley is significantly lighter in weight than previous dual-motored models boasting similar functionality for demanding terrain.

“A growing number of customers were asking us for a downhill control model,” said Neil Parker, Sales Director. “It’s proved itself in markets where golf course gradients are often more severe and we believe demand here will be significant.”

The S1 DHC trolley is available with Lithium battery only at a RRP of £499.99, or £549.99 for the Extended Lithium version. For more information on all Motocaddy trolleys, bags, batteries and accessories, please visit www.motocaddy.com.
